On one of our many daily searches of the Internet we found a page on the trulia.com website for Sun Valley. If you’ve never checked out Trulia you should. Especially if you’re investigating what living in Sun Valley would be like.

There’s a wealth of information available on this website right at your fingertips including things like the number of homes for sale, homes for rent, schools, restaurants and a whole lot more. As you can see from the screenshot on this page the information is right there as well as a map which shows Sun Valley and its location and all the points of interest within its borders.

Another thing we like about this website is that you can get an idea of what the community is like. They’ve asked residents to rate Sun Valley in different areas such as sidewalks, grocery stores, community spirit, etc. So you can get an idea of what your neighbors or potential neighbors think about the city in which they live. The comments are not sugarcoated and residents who have problems are free to express their feelings and let others know what difficulties they have living in Sun Valley. For the most part however the comments from Sun Valley residents are positive. This means most of us are pretty happy living here in Sun Valley. And why wouldn’t we be? This is, in our opinion, pretty good place to live given all the options we have for shopping, dining, transportation and travel.

For those looking to make a move to Southern California—and specifically Sun Valley—the Trulia website is a great resource. Even if you already live here it’s nice to check it out to see what restaurants and attractions are nearby. There maybe some you’ve overlooked or never heard of before. So check it out.

Sun Valley Jose Mier With an Extended Forecast

 

Sun Valley Jose Mier keeps an eye on the weather because one of our community is that Southern California, and specifically Los Angeles County, is a pretty temperate area. As we write this, preparing for the week ahead, it’s currently 85°, sunny, and we’re actually running the air conditioning.

Let’s jump forward a few days shall we? Checking the weather on meteored.com for the next week something really jumped out at us. Sunday, January 24th is supposed to have a low of 31°! Yes, if you read that right. One degree below freezing. Now for our countrymen who live in the Midwest or back east and deal with freezing temperatures for weeks on end, something like this not a big deal. But for us in Sun Valley, it is. The overnight lows almost never dip below freezing so this is quite out of the ordinary. We are supposed to see rain on Saturday the 23rd but nothing for Sunday. If the forecast is a bit off could it be possible that for the first time in our memory Sun Valley sees snow? And we’re talking about Sun Valley, California.

Regardless of our prognostications and imaginations, it looks like it is going to be cold. That means will be bundling up and of course we need to think about our homeless neighbors would have to suffer on the streets during these periods of freezing temperatures. Indeed the temperatures will be in the low 40s in the days preceding and just after Sunday the 24th so take any precautions you need to.

Southern California just doesn’t get this cold but there are always exceptions and it looks like 2021 has some in store for us.

However, today we wanted to address the different transportation options available for whatever trip you want to take and specifically by using the website Rome to Rio.

If you’re unfamiliar with Rome to Rio it’s a website that will give you all the transportation options from one point to another. You literally can put in two different cities such as Rome, Italy and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and see your transportation options. We’re not looking to take a trip of that magnitude. We just want to get from downtown Los Angeles to Sun Valley. As we’ve written many times before Sun Valley has easy access to a number of freeways, making the trip to anywhere in Southern California pretty easy. But automobiles are not the only modes of transport available to us.

One of the benefits of living in Sun Valley is that we have our own Metrolink stop (located at 8360 San Fernando Rd.) so it’s a snap to hop on the Metrolink train and take it into downtown Los Angeles at Union Station. Union Station is the hub for not only Metrolink trains but the underground subway, the Metro, as well as aboveground train lines such as the red line. All these options means it’s possible to get around Southern California from Long Beach to the Inland Empire without having to use an automobile.

For those of you that are interested, Rome to Rio gives a travel time from Union Station to Sun Valley of 29 minutes and ticket prices range from $4-$7. The next time you’re thinking about travel to or from Sun Valley try giving Rome to Rio shot and see what your options are. Given the amount of traffic we have on our freeways, taking a train trip might be a cool and enjoyable alternative.

20 Minute Drive to Griffith Observatory

Sun Valley Jose Mier with another great day trip idea. As we’ve said many times before Sun Valley is in a prime location, Close to so much around Southern California. One of those spots it Is extremely close it makes for perfect morning or afternoon jaunt. We’re talking about the Griffith Observatory.

The observatory is very famous, having been featured in hundreds of feature films and TV shows, but it’s an actual observatory and when it’s dark you can see the constellations the night sky. During the daytime the location is perfect for viewing just about all of the Los Angeles basin since the observatory is located on top of a hill overlooking Hollywood, Los Angeles and beyond.

Currently the observatory is promoting the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn which come this close in the night sky only every 800 years or so. As we write this the skies in Sun Valley are a bit cloudy so let’s hope that when you try to spot the conjunction of these two planets the night sky is clear.

As with so many day trips that we’ve profiled on Sun Valley Jose Mier this one too is very easy. From Sun Valley get on interstate 5 heading south. After only a few minutes exit on Los Feliz heading west. Take N. Vermont Canyon Road North to W. Observatory Rd. Simple? We thought so. This whole trip to the observatory takes just over 20 minutes. If you’re short on time you can spend an hour or two at the observatory and go on to bigger and better things. Although what could be bigger than the heavens themselves? And all this is very close to our backyard in Sun Valley.
